The Russian division of Arctic Trucks unveiled a new tuning package for the Isuzu MU-X. The tuner is already offering the Isuzu D-Max AT35 pickup in various markets, so it was about time for its SUV variant to get the same treatment.

The Isuzu MU-X was introduced in 2020 as a rival to the Ford Everest, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and the Toyota Fortuner – all based on pickups. As such, it is an already capable ladder-frame SUV, but those who are serious about off-roading will certainly find use in the modifications offered by Arctic Trucks.

The highlight is the massive 35-inch A/T tires (315/70 R17) which turn the MU-X into a proper bigfoot ready to explore the wilderness. In order to accommodate the wider wheels, the MU-X got front and rear fender extensions, blending in with the rest of the bodywork. Other visual modifications include the body-colored snorkel, mudguards, a skid plate, and an electric winch that can pull up to 5.6 tons.

The new tires in combination with the revised heavy-duty suspension have increased the ground clearance to an impressive 278 mm (10.9 inches) up from the standard 235 mm (9.3 inches), giving more confidence to the driver and improving the off-road angles. More specifically, the approach angle is 36.2 degrees instead of 29.2 degrees, while the departure angle is 30.9 degrees instead of 26.9 degrees.

Under the bonnet lies the 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque as in the stock MU-X. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox since the manual is only available in combination with the smaller 1.9-liter turbodiesel.

The kit is already available to order with the conversion taking 20 days in order to apply the new parts and obtain all the necessary certificates.
