KYIV, ($1=29.71 Ukrainian Hryvnias) — A video shared on social media confirms that Ukraine received from the Netherlands and used against the Russian armed forces YPR-765 armored personnel carrier [APC] – an American-made armored vehicle in the Dutch version.
According to Dutch sources, Amsterdam has at least 500 units of this model, which was retired in 2012. BulgarianMilitary.com reminds us that the Netherlands does not say what kind of weapons technology it provides to Ukraine. That is why the video shared on social networks confirms that one type of heavily armored vehicle promised by the Dutch Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky [telephone conversation between the two on April 19, 2022] is the Dutch version YPR-765.
In early May, it became clear that the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with a “limited number” of 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzers PzH 2000 KMW Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Initially, the information was not officially announced by the Dutch government, but after the discovery of several online portals, including Oryx, the Dutch Prime Minister was forced to confirm.
YPR-765 is the Dutch model and designation of the American AIFV [Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle] developed in the late 60s of last century. YPR-765 is an armored vehicle based on the M113A1 armored personnel carrier.
YPR-765 has an aluminum body and sheet metal bumper, and the joints between the sheets are filled with polyethylene foam. The engine is in the rear of the hull providing a top speed of 61 km / h, and with one refueling of the tank the machine travels 490 km. The Dutch version, unlike the M113A1, is reinforced with a larger capacity of the radiator and turbocharger.
The optical system used by the YPR-765 driver is made up of four periscopes: day or passive infrared for night vision. The turret has an electro-hydraulic stroke, can be raised from -10 to + 50 °, and can move and rise at a speed of 60 ° / sec.
The weapon arsenal consists of one main weapon: Oerlikon KBA 25mm B02, which is capable of a double supply of ammunition. The YPR-765 also has a 7.62 mm FN MAG machine gun with 230 rounds ready to fire, and another 1,610 are in the hull. The YPR-765 can carry seven soldiers who board the vehicle from a rear ramp.
