The Board of Supervisors has voted to approve an emergency proclamation on Thursday to seek resources for the flooding and mudslides that occurred on Monday and Tuesday in the El Dorado/Apple Fire burn scar areas.

The proclamation will allow the county to request state and federal assistance to assist responding agencies in the ongoing debris flow response and recovery efforts.

Assistance may also be available for the restoration of damaged infrastructure. The county will be collecting information from residents and businesses that incurred damage as a result of the debris flow to allow state and federal agencies the opportunity to determine what assistance may be made available.

Remnants of Hurricane Kaye produced up to 2.4 inches of rain within an hour over the communities of Oak Glen and Forest Falls.

“My heart goes out to the communities of Oak Glen, Forest Falls and Crestline,” said Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “ We are going to do everything we can to assist the communities to recover from the disaster.”

One person is reported missing. At least 30 homes were damaged or destroyed by debris flow and approximately 3,000 residents were impacted. Crews continue to evaluate the damage.

The county opened a hotline at (909) 356-2563 for residents impacted by the flooding to call for resources and information. The hotline will be open from 8 am. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Resources for assistance for housing and rebuilding, utilities, animal care and tax assistance are available on the county website wp.sbcounty.gov/cao/countywire/?p=16056 and social media channels for residents who are impacted.
