STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --- Two NYPD officers were injured following a crash in South Beach Thursday morning, when their patrol car caught on fire after it collided with a FedEx truck.

The NYPD squad car, with its lights on, was traveling north on Hurlbert Street when it collided with the 2017 Isuzu model FedEx truck at the intersection of Reid Avenue around 10:20 a.m., according to a NYPD spokesperson.

A marked police car with severe burn damage to the front end was seen at the location.

The driver and passenger of the NYPD vehicle were taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze with minor injuries. The driver of the FedEx truck was also taken to SIUH with minor injuries.
